Annual Caffery Competition: Call for Student Papers - Deadline: Feb. 28

The library is accepting scholarly papers for the 2020 Annual Caffery Competition. The Caffery Competition honors the most outstanding original student scholarly paper written using special collections materials from Dupré Library. Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to submit. The student with the best paper is awarded $500.

Papers are to be submitted electronically with all contact information, including ULID, to librarydeanoffice@louisiana.edu no later than Feb. 28, 2020.

Exhibit: Nursing Students’ Posters

Take a visit to the library to view the Department of Nursing's display of NURS403 class' EBP posters on various studies made within the course.

Operation Bead Collection

Drop off your Mardi Gras beads at to help the UL Lafayette Office of Sustainability collect beads to support the LARC organization's Mardi Gras Beads-N-More celebration. The collection ends on March 10.

Lafayette Public Library will be visiting campus on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Dupré Library.

All public service departments, including the Circulation/Reserve Desk, Interlibrary Loan, Reference Desk/Chat, Reference Online Center (ROC) Lab, and STEP Labs, close 15 minutes before the building closes.

KRVS Interview with Head of Special Collections

Zachary Stein, Head of Special Collections, sat down with Judith Meriwether of KRVS to discuss the work and mission of the Special Collections at the library. They spoke about the importance of archives preservation, the history of the department, the unique materials available to library users, and the mission and goals of Special Collections.

Exhibit: UNIV 100 Student Projects Showcase

The UL Lafayette Office of First-Year Experience is having their annual UNIV 100 Showcase Awards Ceremony on Feb. 13 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the library. The last day to view the projects will be Feb. 16.

Library Faculty Member Recognized for Research

Congratulations to Cheylon Woods, Director of the Ernest J. Gaines Center, for receiving a 2018-2019 Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Research Recognition Reception that took place on Jan. 28, 2020.

During the ceremony, University faculty and staff researchers were recognized for a range of accomplishments, from success in generating external funds and inventing patentable intellectual property to serving on research committees.
