Article on Special Collections's Journalism Event

In advance of Special Collections's upcoming journalism event, Ken Stickney of The Advocate has written an article highlighting the event, Alton Broussard, and his impact on Lafayette journalism. The article is titled "Independent Lafayette paper from the '60s focus of UL event".

The Special Collections journalism event will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Jefferson Caffery Reading Room on the 3rd floor.

Event: Lawyers in Libraries: Ask-a-Lawyer -- Oct. 23 & 24

The library is partnering with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) and Louisiana Library Association (LLA) for the sixth annual “Lawyers in Libraries” statewide program.

Article on Edwin Stephens' Desk Available Online

The desk of UL Lafayette's first president, Dr. Edwin Lewis Stephens, has been faithfully restored thanks to the efforts of George Parker of Parker Woodworks & Furniture Repair in Lafayette. The desk can be viewed in the Jefferson Caffery Reading Room on the 3rd floor.

In honor of this occasion, Dr. James Savage of the Office of Communications and Marketing has written an article about the desk and its restoration.

Stuffed Animal Drive

One good deed can change everything. Donate new and gently used stuffed animals to help benefit children in crisis situations.

Donations accepted Oct. 13 to Dec. 13 in Dupré Library & the UPC office (in the Union).

All animals will be donated to the Lafayette Police Department for comfort items to help ease the pain and fear of traumatized children.
