On March 6, 2020, a ceremony at the Alumni Center was held to honor Sandra Thompson Herman and the donation of her personal papers to Edith Garland Dupré Library's Special Collections. Ms. Herman was the former director of the Atchafalaya Basin Progam and the creator of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, for which she acted as the first secretary. The ceremony included speeches from President E.
