User Responsibilities and Ethics
Dupré Library is open to UL Lafayette students, faculty and staff, and the general public. Library materials must be shared and preserved for the benefit of the entire community of library users. To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we ask that you keep the following guidelines in mind.
- Keep noise to a minimum (sound levels apply)
- No smoking, vaping, or pets (only service animals allowed)
- Use of wheeled devices (including skateboards, bicycles, and scooters) is not permitted inside the Library
- Organized groups must obtain permission from the Dean's Office prior to visiting
- Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- No food or drinks in the U.S. Government Documents Collection and Special Collections
For a full list of policies, view Departmental Policies & Procedures.
Failure to comply with reasonable policies may result in suspension or cancellation of library privileges.
Public Use
Visitors may use library books, periodicals, online resources, and other materials on-site for general and research purposes, providing use does not conflict with Dupré Library's primary responsibility to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette community. Users of Federal government information resources will be provided services comparable to those for University users. For more information, Visitor Information.
Electronic Resources
Computer Use
Library users should abide by the University's Technology Policies (PDF) on the use of computers and network resources. Refer any questions about these policies to the University Office of Information Technology.
Database Use
Current UL Lafayette students, faculty, and staff can access online library resources both on campus and off campus using their ULID and password. Visitors can access online library resources on-site when visiting the library (off-campus access is not allowed), or use Library Search Guest Access to find some research materials. View important information about Database Use.
Wi-Fi / Network Connections
The University Office of Network Services provides wireless and wired connectivity on campus, including throughout the library. Learn how to connect.
Services and Facilities
Dupré Library strives to provide library spaces, services, and resources that are accessible to all. Assistance retrieving items, help with general inquiries, and adaptive technology are available at the Service Desk. Library-managed websites employ the guidelines provided by the University Web Style Guide for Accessibility. We are always open to suggestions and improvements. Contact duprelibrary@louisiana.edu. The Office of Disability Services provides additional services on campus.
Vandalism & Mutilation of Library Resources
The library building, equipment, furniture, materials, and collections are resources owned by the State of Louisiana. Dupré Library will handle theft, vandalism, and mutilation of State property according to the State of Louisiana laws and University's Code of Student Conduct. A copy of the Code of Student Conduct is available on the University's Student Affairs Division.
