Event: Book Talk with Jamel Brinkley

Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence winner and author of the dynamic and acclaimed book, A Lucky Man, Jamel Brinkley will be at the Ernest J. Gaines Center for a book talk on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Los Angels Review of Books states that Brinkley" offers visions of manhood and masculinity that demonstrate candor without false intensity, desire without ownership.

UL Lafayette Institutional Repository Is Officially Live

Edith Garland Dupré Library has launched its first institutional repository for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

An institutional repository is an online platform that enables/provides access to materials created by an institution’s students, faculty, and staff. The intention of the repository is to showcase works from the University community, as well as digital collections from Special Collections.

Opelousas and Attakapas District Brand Books Available on the Louisiana Digital Library

The Opelousas and Attakapas District Brand Books, Collection 144 from the University Archives and Acadiana Manuscripts Collection, are now available on the Louisiana Digital Library.

Donated by Mrs. Gradney Cochran, these are presumably the oldest cattle brand books in the United States. Brand registrations include Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and other parishes of south Louisiana.

The Collection is divided into two volumes: 1739-1888 and 1888-1944.

ACCT 201 & 202 Tutoring

Beta Alpha Psi, UL Lafayette's accounting fraternity, will be doing group tutoring for Acct 201 & 202. They will meet on the 2nd floor by the stairwell on Sundays, 4-6 p.m.
