Visitors to Special Collections

Materials

Dupré Library welcomes visitors to use Special Collections materials. These materials include those identified in the Dupré Library Catalog by:

Guides available on the individual department pages can identify other uncataloged materials.

Special Collections materials must be used in the reading area of the specific collection since materials do not circulate. The collections do not permit general browsing.

Visitors who wish to use materials require a current validated University of Louisiana at Lafayette ID, driver’s license, or other picture ID. The exception is the U.S. Government Documents Collection where the collection permits browsing and visitors can borrow materials with a current validated University of Louisiana at Lafayette ID.

Access Hours

Be aware that most Special Collections departments observe limited hours of access. Visitors should contact the department in advance to make the best use of their time while in Dupré Library. Staff members can advise researchers on the availability of materials and other relevant collections, as well as hours of opening.
