Fines & Fees Policy

Dupré Library imposes fines for overdue, damaged, or lost materials. Borrowers are responsible for all items checked out to their account. All library materials must be returned in good condition, regardless of circumstances that may occur over the loan period. All users are subject to fines for overdue, damaged, or lost materials. Library fines must be paid at the service desk on the first floor using Cajun Cash, check, or money order.

Users who attempt to leave the Library with uncharged library materials or who are found damaging items will be reported to University Police.

Suspension of Circulation Privileges

Users with library fines of $10 and above will have a hold placed on their account in the Banner system. Items will be considered lost 24 hours after the due date and time. Once items are declared lost, library circulation privileges will be suspended. Account holds can only be removed after the fine is paid. Processing may take up to 24 hours. If you have any questions regarding library fines, please email circulation@louisiana.edu or call (337) 482-6025.

Waiver of Library Fines

Library users are responsible for understanding and following circulation policies. Not being familiar with these policies will not exempt users from paying overdue fines or fees for billed library materials.

If you believe you have an extenuating circumstance and should be considered for a waiver of fines, email circulation@louisiana.edu. The decision to waive fines is at the discretion of library staff.
