Film screening: "Dogs on the Inside"

On Sunday, August 21 at 3:00 p.m., Dupré Library will host a screening of the documentary Dogs on the Inside (2014) in the Bayou Bijou of the Student Union. The film tells "the story of a partnership between a Massachusetts prison and a dog shelter that gives both rescue dogs and inmates a new lease on life." Watch the trailer here.

The event is part of Freshman Week activities on the campus of UL Lafayette. It is free and open to the public.

Film screening: "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night"

On Thursday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m., Dupré Library will host a screening of the film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) in the Bayou Bijou of the Student Union. Called "a Middle Eastern vampire romance," the film is a mash-up of multiple genres and influences, including graphic novels, horror films, teenage romantic comedies, Jim Jarmusch, Spaghetti Westerns, 1950s juvenile delinquent movies, and Iranian new wave. All public service departments, including the Circulation/Reserve Desk, Interlibrary Loan, Reference Desk/Chat, Reference Online Center (ROC) Lab, and STEP Labs, close 15 minutes before the building closes.
