Exhibit: Books About Women

Women's History Month celebrates ALL women, even the notorious ones. Women are courageous, resilient, intelligent, creative and most of all inspirational. Check out the display cases on the 1st floor which showcase some books inspired by and written about women. Some notable names include: Vera Atkins, a secret agent during WWII; Norma Wallace, a New Orleans madam; and Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of Nasty Girl.

Exhibit: Engineering & Technology Week Poster Competition

As part of its annual Engineering & Technology Week, the College of Engineering is having a Poster Competition. Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Engineering are given the opportunity to showcase their current research through the creation of a poster.

Posters will be displayed in the library during the entire month of March but winners will be announced at the Engineering and Technology Week Banquet on Friday, March 9, 2018. There will be a total of six prizes awarded, 1st to 3rd Place for both undergrad and grad divisions.

Digital Exhibit: The Mural - "The History of Medicine in Louisiana"

In the 1940s, Franklin Boggs was commissioned by the Aloe Company, a medical supply company in New Orleans, LA, to capture the evolution of the state's medical history. The 112-foot by 57-inch mural located in the Reference & Research Services area depicts memorable events in Louisiana’s medical history.

A digital exhibit was created to show the history of the mural and its journey from the Aloe Company to Tulane University and now Dupré Library. The exhibit can be viewed under Digital Exhibits.

The Ernest J. Gaines Center and the Cajun and Creole Music Collection would like to invite you to a listening party. Join us and come listen to some wonderful Zydeco, Creole, Louisiana Blues, R&B and other music from the Cajun and Creole Music Collection and look at some fantastic poetry from the Ernest J. Gaines Center's collection.

The listening party will be on Feb. 22, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. in the Library Staff Lounge, which is located on the 2nd floor and is a free, family friendly event.
