Who Gets to Vote? Conversations on Voting Rights in America -- March 10 to 31

We’re excited to announce Dupré Library is hosting "Who Gets to Vote? Conversations on Voting Rights in America", a thoughtful reading & discussion series for the Lafayette community that explores how voting rights history intersects with the challenges of today.

“Who Gets to Vote?” is part of the “Why It Matters: Civic and Electoral Participation” initiative administered by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Event: On-Campus Blood Drive -- Feb. 10

Save three lives in 30 minutes .... Our Lady of Lourdes will be on campus for a blood drive to help replenish the critically low blood supply in Acadiana.

Our Lady of Lourdes will be on campus for a blood drive on Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the library.

The blood supply in Acadiana is critically low. We encourage all who are eligible to stop in and donate blood. In just 30 minutes, you will help save three lives.

Everyone who donates will receive a free long sleeve shirt.

Event: Lafayette Reads Together -- Feb. 9

Lafayette Public Library will be handing out free copies of “Haben” for Lafayette Reads Together in front of the library on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. while supplies last.

Event: Handmade With Love -- Feb. 1 to 5

Spread love and kindness by creating handmade letters and cards. The library will mail them to your loved ones for you. You can also donate them to Braid Mission’s Cards of Hope.

Create and drop off your items Feb. 1 through Feb. 5 all day in Jazzman’s Cafe on the 1st floor. Snacks and supplies will be provided while they last.

New Database: Wiley Online Library IET Research Hub

Wiley Online Library has made accessible to all users 40 science and engineering related journals covering a wide range of STEM topics (2013 to present).

These Institution of Engineering and Technology journals will be useful resources to students and faculty in healthcare and technology, chemistry and engineering alike, and they will be available through the Open Access Journals.

Event: Virtual Book Reading with Gabriel Bump -- Jan. 27

The Ernest J. Gaines Center presents a virtual book reading with Gabriel Bump on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 at 5 p.m.

Gabriel Bump is the 14th recipient of the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence. He will be reading from his debut novel Everywhere You Don't Belong.

Lafayette Reads Together 2021

Lafayette Reads Together is an annual community-wide reading program. The 2021 selected book is Haben, The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law, a memoir by Haben Girma.
