Here is another method used by Special Collections to safeguard the integrity of archival objects: Mylar.

Similar to phase boxing, Mylar can be utilized in archival settings to encase items such as letters, documents, maps, and prints. It is chemically stable, possesses strong durability, and maintains its shape well.

Mylar is employed for the preservation of not just the rare books in our collection but also for a variety of items that arrive in our University Archives and collections, including newspapers, photographs, and pamphlets.
