UL Lafayette 125th Birthday Fun Fact
Tue, 07/25/2023 - 8:19amThe University of Louisiana at Lafayette just celebrated its 125th birthday on July 14. Louisiana Gov. Murphy J. Foster signed Act 162 to establish Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute, now UL Lafayette, in 1898 but there was no library until many years later. Construction of the first library, Stephens Memorial Library, now Stephens Hall, didn't begin until 1939 and was completed in 1940.
