This week we are celebrating with KRVS for their 60th anniversary! Congrats KRVS Public Media!

From KRVS Public Media:

60th Anniversary Highlight

By 1962 USL students had agreed to devote 50¢ per student per semester to fund the 10-watt campus radio station. Those 10 watts got the student produced KRVS onto radios in campus dorms and in any cars near campus, about a 7 mile radius. In the article posted you can read more about the broadcast workshop that led to the creation of a full fledged radio station. We have professors Mr. C (Mr. Capuder) and Ernie Vincent to thank!

KRVS is now a 100,000-watt NPR-Affiliate music station that reaches 16 parishes in southwest Louisiana and the world via our mobile app and krvs.org. Promoting the region’s diverse musical genres, languages, and the musicians who keep the traditions alive is our top priority. Listen on our app, krvs.org or locally on 88.7 FM.

Thank you to UL Lafayette Special Collections for the look into vintage Vermilion newspapers!
