The library had a special guest on April 11. Scott Billington, musician, author, Grammy-winning record producer and former VP of A&R for Rounder Records, toured the Cajun and Creole Music Collection (CCMC). Included in the collection are Rounder label LP album and compact disc recordings of Louisiana Creole, zydeco, blues, R&B, and Cajun music produced by Scott Billington. As a blues harmonica player, Mr. Billington is also a contributing performer on many of these recordings. During the visit, he autographed copies of his works and shared stories and experiences from his acclaimed career in American roots music. The most recent concert of the UL Lafayette Concert Series featured Scott Billington, along with the Traditional Music program's R&B ensemble, Ragin’ and Blues Band; the Blue Monday All-Stars; and Johnette Downing, author and musician. His forthcoming memoir is Making Tracks: A Record Producer’s Southern Roots Music Journey, published by University Press of Mississippi.
