Departments and offices that provide academic resources to students will be available to share information and treats.

Data Management Plan Tool Online Class

The DMPTool is a free tool that walks users through creating comprehensive data management plans. The DMPTool is a great resource for building data management plans for grant applications, especially considering that starting in Jan. 2023 the NIH requires funded researchers to submit a plan outlining how scientific data from their research will be managed and shared.

Annual Mount Zion River Lake Cemetery Beautification

Help preserve the life, legacy, and graves of "those who have no marks": the former slaves and sharecroppers of Cherie Plantation, as well as acclaimed author Ernest J. Gaines.

Bring yardwork materials, paint brushes, brooms, shovels, and buckets if you have them. Food and drinks will be provided.

Saturday, Oct. 28 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Mount Zion Cemetery (6435 False River Rd) on the former Cherie Plantation in Point Coupee Parish.

Fun Fact Friday with Special Collections

Today we will be showcasing Collection 204, Marie J. Mamalakis “Mario” Papers.

Ms. Mamalakis attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute, graduating with a degree in English in 1933. From 1934 to 1940, she taught public school in St. Landry Parish. In 1941, she entered Louisiana State University for graduate work, and upon earning her master’s degree in library science, she returned to Lafayette as head of the circulation department at Edith Garland Dupré Library at SLI.

Join us for a film screening followed by a discussion led by C.E. Richard, Flora Levy/BORSF Professor of English at UL Lafayette.
