Disability Awareness Exhibition

A Disability Awareness Exhibition will be on display in the library during the month of October.

The exhibition is committed to spotlighting abilities, breaking down barriers and fostering a world where diversity is celebrated. Its mission is to redefine perspectives and challenge preconceived notions around disability.

Fun Fact Friday with Special Collections

Today we are highlighting Collection 165, Marie Theard Manuscript Collection.

Marie Theard was a Louisiana resident who had a passion for local music including both French and Creole music. This collection is made up of 95 songs. The songs are broken down into 6 parts; patriotic songs, songs often found in French collections, songs not generally included in French collections but heard in Louisiana, Acadian songs, Creole songs, and hymns and Christmas songs.

Today, we are highlighting local anniversaries, including the 20-year anniversary of our Cajun & Creole Music Collection (CCMC).

Created in 2003, the multi-media Cajun and Creole Music Collection has grown to include over 10,000 recordings of Louisiana sounds & rhythms, plus other music-related archival artifacts and collections. Join us in celebrating 20 years of services and support to preserve and promote the history, influences, and development of our unique musical cultures.

Today we are highlighting our U.S. Government Information section here in Special Collections, as well as, showcasing the University’s upcoming celebrations in honor of Constitution Day.

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. UL Lafayette and the Dupré library will be celebrating Constitution Day, Monday Sept. 18, 2023. The schedule of events are as follows:
