Dr. Lauren C. Post (6 September 1899 to 21 January 1976) was a native of Acadia Parish, Louisiana. Dr. Post was a professor of Geography for many years at San Diego State University. His papers include a diary, correspondence, and papers on a wide range of subjects including: Attakapas Indians, brand records from colonial Louisiana, Acadian music, French radio broadcasts, grasses of the South, Huey Long, the 1915 hurricane, the U.S.S. Whipple ( a World War I destroyer), and weaving and clothing.

Post's book Cajun Sketches won the Louisiana Library Association's literary award in 1962. He also authored articles on South Louisiana in various journals. He was one of the founders of the California Council for Geographic Education and served that organization as president and editor of its newsletter. Post also was editor of the San Diego State College Service Men's News Letter.

This collection contains correspondence, papers and manuscripts. Copied through the generosity of Lyle Johnson, Director of the Acadia Parish Library System.
