UL Lafayette 125th Birthday Fun Fact
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette just celebrated its 125th birthday on July 14. Louisiana Gov. Murphy J. Foster signed Act 162 to establish Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute, now UL Lafayette, in 1898 but there was no library until many years later. Construction of the first library, Stephens Memorial Library, now Stephens Hall, didn't begin until 1939 and was completed in 1940.
UL Lafayette Institutional Repository Is Officially Live
Edith Garland Dupré Library has launched its first institutional repository for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
An institutional repository is an online platform that enables/provides access to materials created by an institution’s students, faculty, and staff. The intention of the repository is to showcase works from the University community, as well as digital collections from Special Collections.

University Archives
The University Archives houses the archival records of the University starting around 1900. The Archives is especially strong in the records of the Office of the President. Other materials include records from the Student Government Association, the Registrar’s Office, and the Department of Speech. We have a large collection of photographs starting in the 1900s and football game films from 1968 to 2000.

This is the initial and largest collection in the Archives. It contains the historical records of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from its inception. This collection provides the fullest insights into the development of the University from its legislative founding in 1898 as Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute to its present status as the second largest university in the state.

The Louisiana Center for Health Innovation (LCHI), the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the University Libraries are proud to announce the acquisition of a university-wide license for PolicyMap, a leading data and mapping platform.
