Annual Caffery Competition: Call for Student Research Projects

Dupré Library is accepting scholarly research papers and projects for the 2022 Annual Caffery Competition.

The Jefferson Caffery Research Award, established in 1967 by Ambassador and Mrs. Jefferson Caffery, recognizes outstanding scholarly research using primary source materials held in the Special Collections areas of the library.

The winner of this annual award receives $500. The award is sponsored by Dupré Library and the University Library Committee.

Event: Forum Discussion -- “A Dream Deferred, Not Denied: Desegregation of Higher Education”

A forum discussion about the desegregation of higher education and UL Lafayette led by panelists Dr. Michael Martin and Dr. Shawn Wilson.

“A Dream Deferred, Not Denied: Desegregation in Higher Education” will be held at the MLK exhibition at Blackham Collisium on Saturday, Febraruy 19, 2022. Dr. Micheal Martin will present on the desegregation of higher education and UL Lafayette and Dr. Shawn Wilson will talk about his experiences as a student and the first president of the Christiana Smith Alumni Association.

There will be a Q&A/ Forum after the presentation.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette Selected for Competitive Federal Humanities Grant

Edith Garland Dupré Library at University of Louisiana at Lafayette has been selected as one of 200 libraries nationwide for the American Library Association’s American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries opportunity, an emergency relief program to assist libraries that have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
