Today we are celebrating a big event from this past week; the release of the Ernest J. Gaines Stamp.
This past Monday, here at UL Lafayette, we celebrated the release of the Ernest J. Gaines Stamp. This is the 46th stamp in the Black Heritage Series.
The library, along with the University, will close at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24 in anticipation of severe weather.
Campus will reopen and classes and normal business operations will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Attend the U.S. Postal Service's Ernest J. Gaines Forever Stamp first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony. The event will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, in the Atchafalaya Ballroom in the Student Union at 620 McKinley St.
Registration has ended. This indoor event is open to the public. Paid parking is located in the Girard Park Circle garage. Email questions to events@louisiana.edu.

In this picture is the University in the midst of its expansion. The current student union and H.L. Griffin Hall have not been built yet, and the library only has one story.
CINAHL Ultimate is a resource for nursing and allied health research, providing full-text journals in the CINAHL index. It covers more than 50 nursing specialties and includes quick lessons, evidence-based care sheets, CEU modules and research instruments. The database covers all nursing fields from ambulatory care and gerontologic nursing to physical therapy and psychiatric nursing.
This trial is available until April 10, 2023.

Today we are going to look at the former seat of Spanish government in Louisiana, the Cabildo.
The original Cabildo was destroyed by a fire, but the current Cabildo was rebuilt between 1795-1799. The main hall, the “Sala Capitular” was used as a courtroom by the Spanish government then by the Louisiana territorial superior court.
From 1868-1910 it was the home of the Louisiana Supreme Court. The Sala Capitular was the site of several landmark court cases, including Plessy v. Ferguson.
