Fun Fact Friday with Special Collections

Today we are spotlighting newly acquired collections reflecting Louisiana's LGBTQ+ community.

This is thanks in part to a grant from the American Library Association's American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries and funding through the National Endowment for the Humanities.

These collections consist of papers, photographs, newspaper clippings, artifacts, and books based on Acadiana and Louisiana’s LGBTQ+ community. Refer to the LGBTQ+ Archives Project Research Guide for more information.

Collections include:

• Club My-O-My Collection
• Mardi Gras Collection with LGBTQ+ krewes
• Take Me Out Playbill (the star, Daniel Sunjata, is a UL Lafayette alum)
• “Entertainment Weekly” issue spotlighting Ellen DeGeneres
• Van Cliburn Photographs

We have also acquired collections from UL Lafayette's GLASS (Giving Love, Acceptance, Safety, and Support) and Acadiana PRIDE.
