Jessica Barton has been named the winner of the 2020 Jefferson Caffery Research Award. Her paper, "Ambassador Jefferson Caffery (1886-1974): Latin American Posts", focuses on Ambassador Caffery's services in El Salvador, Colombia, Cuba and Brazil. Jessica utilized the Jefferson Caffery Papers (Collection 45) housed in the University Archives and Acadiana Manuscripts Collection.

Jessica graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English in May.

Dr. James Savage, Interim Editorial Director in the Office of Communications and Marketing, has written a story about Jessica's award-winning paper.
