The Ernest J. Gaines Center is excited to host a book talk with world-renowned author Dr. Ernest J. Gaines about his newest book The Tragedy of Brady Sims. This event is free and open to the public, and we are excited to share it with all of you. The book talk will be in the Oliver Hall Auditorium on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. We hope to see you on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to share in this fantastic event and celebrate Dr. Gaines's newest novella.

Dr. Ernest J. Gaines was a writer in residence and a creative writing instructor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for 20 years. Throughout his career Dr. Gaines has received numerous awards, including 2 Medal of the Arts (2000 and 2013). Prior to The Tragedy of Brady Sims, the last book written by Dr. Ernest J. Gaines was the award winning A Lesson before Dying. The Work of Dr. Gaines beautifully illustrates the complexity of South Louisiana, and the plantationscape.

The Ernest J. Gaines Center was established in 2007 and houses the manuscripts of Dr. Ernest J. Gaines. For more information regarding the center, it hours, research and future programs, contact Cheylon Woods at (337) 482-1848 or cheylon.woods@louisiana.edu.
