This week we are highlighting the most recent exhibit of local cookbooks.

Whether referred to as Cajun, Creole, soul food, or just food, cuisine is an important part of everyday life here in south Louisiana. Many people have family recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. Here in special collections, there are thousands of cookbooks displaying the wonderfully rich history of the cuisine of the area.

The current display shows the variety of this cuisine. Cookbooks from here to New Orleans show the diversity of not only the cuisine but the history of our area. We encourage you to stop by and check out the variety of cookbooks on display in the Dupré Library main staircase and in the Jefferson Caffery Reading Room.

On Sunday, June 12, Special Collections will be participating in Creole Culture Day at Vermilionville. We will have a display highlighting the creole collections and books available here in Special Collections. We hope to see you guys there!
