William S. Patout III Sugar Library

The William S. Patout III Sugar Library is an archival collection established by sugarcane expert William “Billy” Patout III, who developed a personal collection over the years of materials on sugarcane, including production, industry, history and chemistry. The archive is housed in the family mill at M.A. Patout & Son in Jeanerette, and Dupré Library catalogs and manages the collection. Items in the archive include hundreds of books, photographs, periodicals, pamphlets and research papers.

The Sugar Library is non-circulating but it is open to students and scholars. Call ahead to confirm hours and directions.
