Purpose: |

To provide assistance to all library patrons who seek information about the current subscriptions and standing orders of the Dupré Library.

To subscribe, claim, process payments, and maintain accurate records for all subscriptions and Standing Orders.

To answer questions about serials prices, publishers addresses, receipt and routing of current serials issues.

Patrons:

- Assist patrons to locate current issues of periodicals. Assist with search for missing issues of periodicals. Order replacement pages and in some cases replacement issues for periodicals.
- Hold single issues and notify faculty members who need them for research or for exceptional emergency. This is a very rare occurrence and we obtain approval from the Library Director to perform this. Example: A vice-president needing articles or a magazine immediately.
- Retain the two most recent issues of The Chronicle of Higher Education and all current issues of ARTSEARCH at the Serials window. Patrons must leave a form of identification at the window while they use the above items. Either current UL ID card or driver's license is acceptable.
- Give assistance via phone about UL periodical subscriptions, publishers addresses, prices, status (delayed publication, suspended, etc.) to all patrons.
- Prepare reports for Academic Departments concerning serials subscriptions, cancellations, price increases, etc. Will assist faculty members with grant proposals if serials information is required.
- Research title changes, frequency changes, missing bound volumes.
- Maintain accurate records of serials receipts. Maintain bindery records
- We answer directional and serials related questions at the Serials window-directions to a particular person, other departments. Give brief instructions about the library's catalog (how to use it). Lend Periodicals directories for use at the window (Ulrich's & Ebsco). Instructions as to where call numbers can be found in stacks.
