Academic Search Complete--The world's most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,300 full-text periodicals, including 4,400 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,300 journals and a total of 10,900 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

Aqualine--The Aqualine database provides comprehensive focus on trade, technical and scientific literature concerning all aspects of water resources. Major subjects of coverage include water resources and supplies management, water legislation, water quality, potable water distribution, wastewater collection, water treatment technologies, wastewater and sewage treatment, and ecological and environmental effects of water pollution. Articles on these topics are drawn from a source list of approximately 300 journals as well as from conference proceedings, scientific reports, books and theses.
Biological Abstracts (via EbscoHost), 1969–. Biological Abstracts, produced by BIOSIS, is a complete collection of bibliographic references to life science journal literature published internationally.
Ebsco Animals--Provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.
JSTOR (Arts and Sciences Collections)--Arts & Sciences Collections represent the building blocks of an interdisciplinary archive of over six hundred journals in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The Arts & Sciences 1 collection also includes a selection of titles in the more science-oriented fields of ecology, mathematics, and statistics. Note: JSTOR does have a Biological Sciences Collection, which the library does not subscribe to. It contains over 100 titles in the biology field, including ecology and botany.
Science Citation Index Expanded (via Web of Knowledge), 1973– . A multidisciplinary index, with searchable author abstracts, covering the journal literature of the sciences. It indexes more than 5,700 major journals across 164 scientific disciplines, covering approximately 2,100 more journals than its SCI print and CD-ROM counterparts, with all cited references captured; updated weekly.
Science and Technology Collection--The Science & Technology Collection contains over 800 leading full text journals covering relevant aspects of the scientific and technical community. Topics include aeronautics, astrophysics, chemistry, computer technology, geology, aviation, physics, archaeology, and materials science. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 1,700 publications.
Scopus--Scopus is an abstract database covering 25 million abstracts from over 14,000 titles across 4,000 publishers from Elsevier. Scopus is a multidisciplinary (scientific, technical, medical and social science literature) navigational tool that contains records going back to the mid 1960s.
Water Resources Abstracts--Water Resources Abstracts provides summaries of the world's technical and scientific literature on water-related topics covering the characteristics, conservation, control, pollution, treatment, use and management of water resources. Abstracts are drawn from journals, books, conference proceedings, and technical reports in the physical and life sciences, as well as from engineering, legal and government publications.
Paper indexes are most valuable for historical research, as they will contain indexed materials beyond the standard 20-30 years that the equivalent online database provides.
Biological Abstracts Stks QH 301 .B374 --stopped receiving in 2000. Each issue consists of five sections: Abstracts, Author Index, Biosystematic Index, Generic Index, and Subject Index. Entries are arranged within the abstracts section according to 84 major concept headings. The Author index includes both personal and corporate names, with up to ten coauthors indexed. The Biosystematic index gives access by taxonomic categories. The Generic index gives access according to genus or genus-species names. The Subject index gives access on the basis of all significant words in the author’s title or text, or words added by BIOSIS; it is a keyword-in-context index.
Biological Abstracts/RRM Stks QH 301 .B372 A supplement to Biological Abstracts, concentrating on reports, reviews, meetings, and books. Entries do not include abstracts; however, concepts (key words) are listed after the bibliographic information. Author, Biosystematic, Generic, and Subject indexes; Semiannual cumulative indexes.
Biological and Agricultural Index Stks Z 5073 .A46 An alphabetic subject index to approximately 200 English language periodicals in the agricultural and biological sciences; 1964 -1984 in paper.
Zoological Record Stks Z 7991 .Z87 A comprehensive index (approx. 6000 serials) to worldwide serials literature in systematic zoology; Published in 20 sections relating to a Phylum or Class of the Animal Kingdom (such as Protozoa, Mollusca, Insecta, Reptila, or Mammalia), each section consisting of five indexes: author, subject, geographical, paleontological, and systematic. Full bibliographical information is given in the author index; the remaining indexes refer to the numbers assigned to the author entries.
