Alternative Campus Map |
| |
| The following directions were composed by students who are familiar with the campus. They walked slightly faster than average; allowing more time is advised when walking the same route. Also, the stride of the students was slightly longer than average; allowing more steps is advised. Finally, the measurements in feet were measured with a 100' tape measure and are considered to be reasonably accurate. |
| |
- While entering the parking lot, with the lot attendant's booth on the left, notice the bright red canopy on the building directly ahead. The canopy is marked "UL Lafayette Student Union" and the building is the Student Union. After parking, approach the sidewalk in front of the Union, then turn left on the sidewalk and walk all the way to the end of the Union. [Approximately: 75 seconds, or 145 steps, or 421 feet.]
|
| |
- At the end of the Student Union, Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church will be ahead and slightly to the left. Wharton Hall (five-story brick building) will be ahead and slightly to the right. Turn right on the sidewalk and follow it between Wharton Hall (now, on the left) and the Student Union (on the right). After reaching the end of the Union, continue (straight ahead) on the sidewalk and look for a fork in the sidewalk just before two large cooling towers ahead and to the left. [Approximately: 85 seconds, or 158 steps, or 468 feet.]
|
| |
- Choose the left fork, and just after the cooling towers, follow the sidewalk as it veers to the left. The sidewalk leads to a crosswalk on Saint Mary Boulevard. [Approximately: 45 seconds, or 87 steps, or 257 feet.]
|
| |
- Follow the path of the crosswalk across Saint Mary Boulevard. After crossing, follow the sidewalk that gradually veers right. This sidewalk leads directly to the main entrance of Edith Garland Dupré Library. [Approximately: 32 seconds, or 67 steps, or 191 feet.]
|
| |
- Under normal circumstances (for example, no sidewalk construction), a
person on crutches or in a wheelchair will not encounter any major obstacles
until this point. This particular sidewalk has steps immediately before
the Library's entrance. But, there is a companion sidewalk located nearby
that has a ramp that leads directly into the building. To reach the companion
sidewalk, back up a short distance then proceed on the concrete apron in
front of the building; now look to the left for the building entrance. [Approximately:
28 seconds, or 54 steps, or 151 feet.]
