Selected Online Database Resources

Academic Search Complete   The world's most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 7,900 full-text periodicals, including more than 6,800 peer-reviewed journals. Content also includes more than 11,900 abstracted and indexed journals. Academic Search Complete features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full-text titles in native (searchable) PDF format.
ArchiVision   ArchiVision: an architecture photo archive, currently holds over 50,000 images in the Education Archive. The ArchiVision Educational Archive was created for in-depth study and analysis by students of architecture and art. ArchiVision is the image resource for architecture, landscapes, public art and design.
Art Full Text   Art Full Text is a comprehensive resource for art information featuring full-text articles from more than 300 periodicals dating back to 1995, high-quality indexing and abstracting of over 600 periodicals dating as far back as 1984, including 280 peer-reviewed journals, as well as indexing and abstracting of over 13,000 art dissertations.
Art Index Retrospective   Art Index Retrospective: 1929 -1984 provides users access to over half a century of art literature covering fine, decorative, and commercial art. Content includes high-quality indexing of nearly 600 publications, many of which are peer-reviewed, and citations of over 25,000 book reviews.
Arts & Humanities Citation Index   (via Web of Science), 1975-, indexes 1140 journals, no abstracts or full-text, citations only.
ArtSEARCH [LIBRARY ONLY]   ArtSEARCH, the national employment bulletin for the arts can be searched by category, state, and date. The database is updated every 3 business days with up to 1000 listings available daily. Find positions in theatres and performing arts centers, universities, colleges and schools, dance companies, museums, and other arts organizations.
ArtStor   A non-profit community resource that has developed a rich digital library of images as well as software tools to enable full use of the collection. Contains over approximately 700,000 images covering art, architecture and archeology.
Avery Index to Architecture Periodicals   Offers a comprehensive listing of journal articles published worldwide on architecture and design, archaeology, city planning, interior design, and historic preservation. Avery indexes not only the international scholarly and popular periodical literature, but also the publications of professional associations, US state and regional periodicals, and the major serial publications on architecture and design of Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia.
Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA and IBA)   The world's most comprehensive bibliography of scholarly writing about the history of western art. It indexes articles from over 1,200 journals. The data is searchable by subject, artist, author, article or journal title, and other elements. The J. Paul Getty Trust currently provides access to BHA, covering 1990-2007, and IBA, covering 2008 and part of 2009 free-of-charge to all interested researchers. It also provides access to Répertoire de la Litterature de L'art, one of the predecessors of BHA with records that cover 1975-1989.
JSTOR   The JSTOR subscription includes the Arts & Sciences I, II, III, IV, V and VII Collections, and the Arts & Sciences Complement. The Arts & Sciences Collections represent the building blocks of an interdisciplinary archive of journals in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
Oxford Art Online   The most comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide from prehistory to the present day. Includes the full text of The Dictionary of Art and The Oxford Companion to Western Art.
Project Muse   Provides full-text, online access to humanities and social sciences journals. Dupré Library subscribes to the Standard Collection.
SIRIS: Smithsonian Institution Research Information System   Search the Smithsonian Art Online for 1.7 million records, with links to 138,000 images, video and sound files from dozens of Smithsonian libraries, archives, museums, and specialized research units.
