Abrom Kaplan was considered to be one of the greatest pioneers of the Southwestern Louisiana rice industry, opening rice mills in Crowley, Abbeville, Gueydan, Esterwood, and Donaldsonville, Louisiana. The town of Kaplan in Vermilion Parish was named after him. This collection consists of diaries, correspondence, financial records, ledgers, letterpress books, microfilm, notebooks, and other miscellaneous materials.

Hyder Kennedy was a colonel during the Civil War. This collection contains letters written by Kennedy during his time serving in the Civil War. Most of them are to his mother or sister. The first letter is a typed copy, but the remaining letters are originals.

Kerr-McGee Corporation offers oil and natural gas exploration and production services in the United States. The company was founded in 1929 by Robert S. Kerr (1896-1963) and Dean A. McGee (1904-1989) and is based in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As of August 10, 2006, Kerr-McGee Corporation operates as a subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. This collection contains 293 volumes.

Keystone View Company. Slides, 1910s-1920s

This collection contains stereopticon slides and glass plates produced by the Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pa. These views are of scenes from all over the world. They were produced for educational purposes and discovered in a Gretna, Louisiana, elementary school. There is one study booklet on Mexico which accompanies a section of the slides. One contains scenes from stories of Peter Rabbit, and the second contains miscellaneous items including several images related to the Civil War.
The donor also included a stereopticon viewer.

Jean Schmidt Kiesel was the Reference Archivist (formerly Louisiana Room Librarian) at Edith Garland Dupré Library for 32 years before her retirement in 2017. During her time in Special Collections, she published two manuscripts: "Images of America: Lafayette" in 2007 and "Images of America: Evangeline Parish" in 2014. The latter was co-written by Jane F. Vidrine, who also works in Special Collections. This collection consists of the working files of her published manuscripts. Donated by Jean S. Kiesel.

Mr. Kimbriel introduced rice production into Mississippi in 1948. After retiring from active farming he traveled throughout the country and Latin America as an advisor for rice and soybean farming. This collection contains correspondence, publications, writings and reports, scrapbooks, and other materials.

This collection contains biographical information on the Kinchen family, cattle brand of Samuel Kinchen, marriage licenses, correspondence, receipts, and other miscellaneous materials as well. All materials are from St. Mary Parish, particularly the Baldwin area.

George V was King of the United Kingdom from 1910 to 1936. During World War I, he distributed a letter to American soldiers offering thanks and support for their entering the war on the side of the Allies. This particular letter was sent to Army soldier Alonzo Daniel McClain, who lived in Louisiana. Jeanne McClain Veazey, daughter of Alonzo McClain donated the collection.

“Prime Time” was a radio program on KPEL documenting reminiscences about the Lafayette and Acadiana area. This collection contains all 700 parts of the KPEL program.

This collection contains open-reel audio tapes from the KPEL radio station in Lafayette, Louisiana. The show “Someplace Special” aired and produced 80 programs, totaling approximately 120 minutes. The tapes have been digitized and are available in MP3 format.

Jean T. Kreamer was the director of the University Media Center and Print Shop at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She was also the President of the Chamber of Commerce for 1999/2000. This collection consists of her dissertation, certificates and awards, clippings, and materials on the different committees she has served. Dr. Kreamer donated this collection.
