Deep South Writers/Artists Conference. Records, 1961–1990s

4 feet

This conference conducted annual gatherings for the purpose of promoting Louisiana talent and encouraging writers from other sections to explore and use literary materials available to Louisiana.

The conference was sponsored originally by the Louisiana Branches of the National League of American Pen Women (sometimes referred to as the Louisiana Pen Women) from 1961 to 1970 and held at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. In 1971 the conference was sponsored by the Department of Drama, English and Fine Arts of Louisiana State University, New Orleans and the Louisiana Branches of the National League of American Pen Women; the conference was also held at LSUNO that year. From 1972 through the 1990s the conference was sponsored and hosted by the USL English Department.

Donated by the Deep South Writers and Artists Conference.
