Dr. Edmond A. Dugas earned his B.S. in Health and Physical Education and Social Studies in August of 1962 and a M.Ed. degree in Education Administration/Health and Physical Education in August of 1963. The University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) awarded both degrees. In the summer of 1970, Dr. Dugas received his Doctorate in Physical Education and Education Administration/Supervision from Louisiana State University. After completing school, Dr. Dugas taught and coached at Welsh and Port Allen High Schools prior to returning to USL as an instructor in Health and Physical Education. He served on the faculty from 1967 until 2001 in a variety of positions and ranks, including coordinator of Men's Physical Education, coordinator of Graduate Studies for the College of Education, and the Head of the Department of Health and Physical Education. Dr. Dugas retired from the University in May 2001 to devote more time to special interests, such as the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and the American Heart Association.
This collection consists of personal files dating from the mid-1970s to 2002. The majority of this collection deals with Health and Physical Education locally and nationally and with the College of Education Alumni Chapter. Types of files included are correspondence, conference programs, meeting agendas for various committees, and media files.
