Jared Y. Sanders II (1839-1881) received a Bachelor of Arts degree from South Carolina College in 1860, and served in the Confederate army during the Civil War. He married Elizabeth Wofford (1845-1929) in 1868. They had nine children: Jared Young III, Mary Diana, Sallie Pugh, Bessie Wofford, James Wofford, Henry Lyon, Thomas Talbot, Francis Mitchell and Leila Mitchell. The family lived at Inglewood Plantation in St. Mary Parish near Morgan City, and most members are buried in the Sanders plot in Franklin Cemetery.

This collection consists of toys that belonged to the daughters of Jared Young and Elizabeth Alzira Wofford Sanders. Also included is a photograph of Jared Young Sanders III, Governor of Louisiana from 1908-1912.

This collection was donated in 1974 by Mary Elizabeth Sanders, great-granddaughter of Jared Young and Elizabeth Alzira Wofford Sanders.
