For the safety of our UL Lafayette community, Dupré Library
Digitization Archivist Scott Jordan has created a new digital exhibit from Special Collections. The exhibit showcases a selection of awards given to UL Lafayette students from the 1940s through the 1980s, celebrating performances in a variety of judged competitions: debates, public speaking, poetry readings, dramatic interpretations, athletics, drills, rallies, homecoming events, and ROTC activities. These trophies and plaques document the extracurricular activities of students and faculty, as well as represent certain design styles that evolved in popular culture from the middle to latter parts of the 20th century.
The awards featured in this exhibit are housed in the University Archives, 3rd Floor of Edith Garland Dupré Library, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. To view this exhibit and others created by UL Lafayette Special Collections, please go to the Special Collections Digital Exhibits page on the University Libraries website.
The physical version of this exhibit, also curated by Scott Jordan, is available in the 1st floor stairwell of Edith Garland Dupré Library.
