Update

Special Collections has changed the time for its journalism event from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Original Posting

Special Collections is proud to host the event, "The Lafayette Guide: Alton Broussard and the Early Days of Lafayette Journalism". This event will include a presentation and discussion of journalism and the media coverage during the turbulent 1960s and 70s in Lafayette, as well as the influence felt today. Topics include the Civil Rights movement and the French Renaissance, which were documented in the local newspaper the Lafayette Guide, edited by former UL Lafayette journalism professor Alton E. Broussard. At the event, his family will donate his collection of papers of the Lafayette Guide newspaper to the library.

The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Jefferson Caffery Reading Room on the 3rd floor. Refreshments will be provided.
