It existed under several names during the early years: The Ladies Tea Club and Women’s Literary Club. The club was formed to study literature, political economy, and many other interests. In 1901 it joined the State Federation of Women’s Clubs. Over the years the club supported scholarships and did a lot of work for Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute/Southwestern Louisiana Institute/University of Southwestern Louisiana.
