F.E. Zimmer and Company Records

Collection 98

Zimmer, F. E. and Company. Louisiana Department of Conservation.
Hearing Records, 1940–1967

300 feet

For many years F. E. Zimmer and Company served as official reporters for the Louisiana Department of Conservation. The company maintained transcripts of public hearings for the siting of oil and gas drilling locations. These transcripts include testimony taken at the hearing, exhibits presented by the petitioning company, and, frequently, maps of the site.

The collection is arranged alphabetically by site in two chronological groupings: 1940-1963; 1964-1967. There are published indexes arranged geographically by parish which cover some of these years. These indexes list site, date, docket, applicant and purpose, pages and exhibits. They are located in Box 150. There is also a card file index by field with docket number and box location; the card file is available in the Reading Room.

The provenance of the collection is unclear, but it was probably donated by F. E. Zimmer. Duplicates of these records are said to exist in Baton Rouge and Lake Charles.
