Charles Joseph Debaillon, Sr. was born 19 April 1879 in Lafayette, Louisiana, the son of Judge Conrad Debaillon and Marie C. Mouton Debaillon. He attended Jesuits College in New Orleans from 1891 to 1895. On 24 June 1914, he married Mary (May) L. Bowden (1890-1941). They had one daughter, Jessie Bowden Debaillon, and one son Charles J. Debaillon, Jr. Charles Joseph Debaillon, Sr. died 11 November 1968 and was buried in St. John Cemetery in Lafayette.

His first job was in a printing office. After college he worked in a General Merchandise Store, then for a lumber yard until 1915. From 1915-1929, he worked for the Lafayette Building Association. In 1947, he became director of the First National Bank.

This collection consists of biographical information on the Debaillon family, correspondence, newspaper clippings and many family photos. Most of the photos are unidentified.
