The CFMA was founded in Basile, Louisiana in November, 1984 with Harry LaFleur of Eunice, Louisiana as its founder. Since its founding, with less than 30 members, the association has grown to a membership of approximately 2000 families, serving seven chapters in Louisiana, 3 chapters in the Cajun region of Southeast Texas, and 1 chapter in Chicago, IL.
