The Girard Family is one of the early families in Lafayette Parish. Michel Eloi Girard was a lawyer who acted as a district attorney during the Civil War and was a member of the Louisiana seceding convention. His wife, Maxim Crow, and their son, Crow Girard, donated plots of land that would make up Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette).
This collection contains genealogy materials of members of the Girard and Crow families collected by Edward Crow Girard. There is also a framed design from Mr. Girard commemorating the university's centennial.
