George V was King of the United Kingdom from 1910 to 1936. During World War I, he distributed a letter to American soldiers offering thanks and support for their entering the war on the side of the Allies.

This particular letter was sent to Army soldier Alonzo Daniel McClain, who lived in Louisiana.
