Judge Kaliste J. Saloom served four decades as Judge of City of Lafayette Court. His educational honors include the following: a Valedictorian Graduate of Cathedral High School in 1935, a Bachelor of Arts with High Distinction degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1939, and a Tulane Law Review Honors in 1942. He passed away at the age of 99.

The library also has additional materials on Judge Saloom: a 2017 documentary from Channel One Digital titled “Judge Kaliste J. Saloom, Jr.: A Lafayette Legend" (Call Number: KF 354 .L6J83 2017 DVD), and a 2006 oral history in the University Archives conducted by Jim Bradshaw.
