Eugene Albert Trahan was born August 25, 1917 in Lafayette, LA. Graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1939, he served in the 2nd Armored Division during World War II as a tank battalion commander. After the war, he served as Division Chief of Staff in Göppingen, Germany and as an executive officer of the National War College. Col. Trahan retired from the military in 1969. He was married to Georgia Marie Colomb of Lafayette, LA and they had two sons together. Col. Trahan died November 19, 2003 at the age of 86.

This collection contains two scrapbooks put together by Col. Trahan. The first scrapbook features photographs of the extended Trahan, Landry (mother), and Colomb (wife) families in Lafayette, LA. There are also photographs of Col. Trahan’s military career, such as when he was stationed in Germany during the fall of Berlin. The second scrapbook contains photographs of the landscapes where Col. Trahan traveled and/or was stationed, including Germany, Switzerland, and the Middle East. There are also photographs of the National War College and President Dwight Eisenhower.
