George C. Larrieu was born on February 12, 1925 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of James August Larrieu and Katherine Carlisle Larrieu. George graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas in 1943. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and served until his honorable discharge as a Private First Class on July 21, 1945. He studied photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology from 1945-1947. From 1947-1957, he was self-employed as a free-lance publicity photographer. He also attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now The University of Louisiana at Lafayette), receiving an Air Force ROTC Commission in 1951.

George spent his career as an information officer, with assignments in Hawaii, Nebraska, and Alabama. In 1963, he returned to the University of Southwestern Louisiana under Operation Bootstrap and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1964. In 1965, he attended the USAF Information Academic Program conducted by Boston University School of Public Communications. He retired in 1981. He passed away on June 7, 2017 at the age of 92. Interment was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

This collection consists of photographs that were taken at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. This collection was donated by George C. Larrieu.
