Rex L. Kimbriel was born on 22 October 1907 in Woodland, Mississippi. He graduate from Lambert High School in 1926 and attended the University of Mississippi. He married Lou Lee Reynolds in 1934. They had one daughter.
Mr. Kimbriel introduced rice production into Mississippi in 1948. After retiring from active farming he traveled throughout the country and Latin America as an advisor for rice and soybean farming. He was vice president for Mississippi on the National Rice Council in Houston, Texas. He served as manager and president of the Mississippi Rice Growers Association, 1954-1959. He also helped organize three farm cooperatives. He died in Greenville, Mississippi on 10 October 1987 at the age of 79.
