In cooperation with the College of the Arts, the March library exhibit celebrates the career contributions of folklorist, professor of anthropology and American studies, and American Routes host and producer, Nick Spitzer. Spitzer is the recipient of this year's Festival of the Arts' SPARK Lifetime Achievement Award sponsored by the College of the Arts.

The exhibit showcases materials documenting Nick Spitzer’s research and fieldwork, publications and productions, and other initiatives and contributions to public cultural policy and folklife preservation in Louisiana and across America. Featured items in the exhibit include Spitzer’s research with Louisiana Creole and zydeco music and culture and the Louisiana Folklife Program.

The audio and video recordings, books, periodicals and other materials in the exhibit are part of the Cajun and Creole Music Collection and the Louisiana Room Collection, both within Special Collections. The display was curated by Sandy Himel, Cajun and Creole Music Collection Librarian and Head of Government Information Services.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
