| SPECIAL ENDOWMENT FUNDS | |||||||||||||||||||
| Since the early 1980s the Library's collections have been supported by a growing number of special endowment funds. These permanent endowments were established in the name of a donor or an honoree, and return annual interest proceeds to the Library for special book purchases. Each book that is purchased has an appropriate book plate placed within as a permanent record. | |||||||||||||||||||
| To date there are nearly forty named endowment funds covering a wide array of collection development areas including: archives and manuscript collection, art, architecture, business, engineering, English, folklore, foreign languages, Francophone studies, geography, history, humanities, Louisiana Room, literature, music, physical science, and renewable resources. In addition to these specific areas there are several endowment funds that are unrestricted. Donors have the option to specify the area(s) that they wish to have books purchased in, or they may opt to have the fund be unrestricted, which allows the library to purchase materials within other areas. Below is the current list of special endowment funds. | |||||||||||||||||||
