				Distance Learning Policy
				Additional policies and procedures exist that might be applicable.
				Purpose
				Dupré Library provides resources and support to the university’s distant learning programs, as directed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) guidelines regarding the provision of library services to distant learners. Three requirements are stipulated:
				To ensure provision of and ready access to adequate library resources and services to support the courses, programs, and degrees offered
				To provide comparable services to offsite students by either owning the needed materials, or by providing electronic access, or by arranging formal borrowing agreements
				To designate a Distance Education Librarian who will have responsibility for ensuring these resources and services
				Services
				Remote access to all of the library’s numerous electronic databases provides distance patrons with identical access of resources as offered to the on-campus patrons. Further resources are available through Dupré Library’s membership in LALINC, a cooperative statewide borrowing agreement and ARIEL, an electronic document delivery system. The needs of distant learners are also supported by other library service departments (Internet Access Services, Bibliographic Instruction, Reference, and Interlibrary Loan) as Dupré Library actively supports the needs of distant learners in our educational community.
