| The three-story, newly renovated library provides a pleasant environment for research and study. Computer labs in the library provide access to the Internet, the MS Office Suite, database searching, email, and other applications. Printing is available. | ||||||||
| Books and other materials may be borrowed from the library with a valid university ID card. Circulation period for books is three weeks. Renewals and holds are available in the department. | ||||||||
| Dupré Library is a hotspot for wireless networking. Wireless networking allows users of mobile devices such as laptop computers and personal digital assistants (PDA's) to access a computer network (such as the UL Lafayette campus network or the Internet) without the need for a physical (that is, hardwired) connection. On all three floors of the library, coverage is designed to provide service to open seating areas. If you are having trouble getting a strong signal please look for the twin black antennas pointing down from the ceiling and sit where you can see them. | ||||||||
| The Reference Department provides assistance with database searching in the Reference Online Center and supports other informational queries either in person, via telephone or email.1 | ||||||||
| Copy machines are available on each floor of the library. Copies can be purchased with the university's Cajun Card, which also functions as an ID card. | ||||||||
| INTERLIBRARY LOAN | ||||||||
| Interlibrary Loan exists to provide faculty and graduate students with access to the materials they need to conduct serious research. If Dupré Library does not own an item that you need, you may obtain it from another institution through this service. | ||||||||
| There is usually no charge for borrowing books through Interlibrary Loan. The cost for photocopying other materials may vary. You can expect to pay between $3.00 - $12.00 per photocopy request. Information regarding policies and procedures is available from the library's ILL website at: http://library.louisiana.edu/ILL/. | ||||||||
| Online requests for ILL materials are encouraged and forms are available via the ILLiad online system at: http://library.louisiana.edu/ILL/. Click on the ILLiad Login link. First time users must register. | ||||||||
| STATEWIDE BORROWING | ||||||||
| Distance learners in Louisiana have borrowing privileges at university and college libraries throughout the state with a LALINC (Louisiana Academic Library Information Network Consortium) reciprocal borrower's card. For more information on obtaining a LALINC card and downloading an application, go here. You may also contact Circulation Services at Dupré Library at 337-482-6025. | ||||||||
| REMOTE ACCESS | ||||||||
| The library's proxy server allows remote access to its online databases. If prompted, enter your UL UCS CLID and password. For more information on obtaining a UCS CLID visit: | ||||||||

| ONLINE DATABASES | ||||||||
| The Reference Department provides access to numerous subject-specific and general online databases. These include journal indexes, directories, newspapers and other reference sources. An alphabetic list and subject guide of these resources is available on the Library's Reference Online Center web page at: | ||||||||
| http://library.louisiana.edu/Ref/Databases | ||||||||
| iLink ONLINE CATALOG | ||||||||
| Edith Garland Dupré Library recently launched its new, web-based catalog, iLink. With the look of an Internet search engine, iLink simplifies searches for library materials and information. A major advantage of iLink is the wealth of options it provides. User-friendly, pull-down menus offer keyword, author, title, subject, and series searches. The advanced search mode allows users to search any combination of these terms. | ||||||||
| A task bar provides quick access to the Library's Reference Online Center web page, the Interlibrary Loan Department web page, and a host of other library catalogs. An option also gives users access to their circulation records. | ||||||||
| Access from http://library.louisiana.edu. | ||||||||
| LOUISIANA UNION CATALOG | ||||||||
| The Louisiana Union Catalog allows you to search any or all of the Louisiana academic library catalogs at the same time. For more information visit: | ||||||||
